Rangers 4 Dunfermline 0: Shiels hat-trick helps put Pars out of cup
ByThe Courier Reporter
Dunfermline have been dumped out of the cup after a 4-0 defeat to Rangers.
The Pars went down to a Dean Shiels hat-trick and a David Templeton strike at Ibrox.
Shiels opened the scoring eight minutes into the game after taking advantage of Ryan Williamson’s defensive lapse.
The Northern Irishman’s second came after Pars goalkeeper Ryan Scully saved a Jon Daly header only for the Gers frontman to seize on the rebound and double the home side’s lead.
Templeton added a third before the break when his low shot beat Scully to find the net.
Shiels sealed his third just a minute after the interval by pouncing on the rebound from a Lee Wallace effort.
