Brechin boss Ray McKinnon has revealed that he is facing a “Catch-22” situation with midfielder Callum Tapping.
The 21-year-old former Hearts player sustained a knee injury during a game against Stirling Albion back in September which appeared to rule him out for the season.
However, he made a quicker than expected recovery and has been battling his way back, making another cameo appearance from the bench towards the end of Saturday’s home win over Dunfermline.
However, McKinnon has been left frustrated as the player is still not fully match fit but the manager is wary of trying to arrange a friendly at this late stage of the season with so much still at stake as City pursue their dream of securing a promotion play-off spot.
The Glebe gaffer said: “Callum is fit but not fully match fit.
“But I can’t get a game into him at the moment. I would arrange a friendly but at this stage of the season, I can’t take any risks with possible injuries.
“So while I would like him to get a game under his belt, I can’t it is a real Catch-22 situation.
“That might change though if we can secure our play-off place this weekend.”
