Celtic boss in a sweat over Mikael Lustig’s hip injury

Celtic face an anxious wait to discover the full extent of Mikael Lustig’s hip injury after Sweden head coach Erik Hamren admitted that the right-back would not be fit enough to start the visit of Germany.
Hoops manager Neil Lennon already without Adam Matthews for three months is facing a potential right-back crisis ahead of next Tuesday’s crunch Champions League clash with Ajax after Lustig was forced off in his country’s win over Austria on Friday.
Lustig, 26, did not train with the rest of his inter-national team-mates yesterday and the problem is still troubling him to the extent that Hamren has accepted that he will have to make a defensive reshuffle.
Hamren admitted that the Celtic full-back was a concern.
He said: “Lustig will not be available, at least not for the start of the game.”
The Celtic medical team will be keen to assess the player when he returns from international duty.
Lustig admitted after the Austria clash that the injury was a problem, saying: “It feels as though my hip locked up considerably.”
Celtic take on Hibs at Easter Road on Saturday before welcoming the Dutch side in a must-win Group H encounter next week.
