Brechin City boss Darren Dods was delighted with the battling qualities his side displayed after they fought back from being two goals down to rescue a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Airdrie at Glebe Park.
“After coming in at the break 3-1 down, we knew we had an awful lot to do in the second half,” said Dods.
“However, the players came out for the second half and battled on and they showed great character and spirit to rescue a vital point.”
“We were obviously hoping to take full points from the match but coming in at half-time 3-1 down we’d have taken a point.”
“ We’ve 16 games remaining, eight at home and eight away and we’ve got to start getting results.
“We’ve picked up a couple of injuries today but we’ll try and bring in maybe one or two new faces before the transfer window closes and perhaps beyond that period as we can still bring players in under the emergency loan arrangements.”
City started the game brightly with Diamonds keeper Rohan Ferguson bringing off a great save to deny David Weatherston, but the visitors drew first blood in the 12th minute when former City striker Jim Lister glanced a great header past Graeme Smith.
Brechin hit back and they levelled the match 11 minutes later when Lewis Spence forced his way into the visitors’ penalty box before striking a low drive past Ferguson.
However, two goals from centre-back Sean Crighton in the last three minutes of the first half put the Diamonds in the driving seat.
City came out for the second half in determined fashion and reduced the deficit within five minutes when Robert Thomson headed home a Willie Dyer cross.
The Angus side grabbed a dramatic equaliser with 10 minutes remaining when Dods headed home from close-range.
