East Fife were unable to strengthen their grip on fourth place in League Two last night as they slipped up at home to Berwick.
Paul Willis opened the scoring in the first half, with Kyle Wilkie, Blair Henderson and David Gold completing the job in the second 45.
The goals handed Colin Cameron’s men a win they richly deserved and pulled them to within four points of the Fifers.
The visitors started brightly and it was little surprise when they grabbed the lead. Former Fifer Willis was allowed space to advance towards the East Fife goal.
With the home defence failing to close him down, Willis fired a shot beyond Jordan Millar. They deservedly increased their lead when Kyle Wilkie headed home an Andy Russell cross.
The win was put beyond all doubt when Henderson burst through the East Fife defence and slammed past Millar.
Bayview boss Gary Naysmith introduced all his attacking options from the bench, with Alan Cook, Kevin Smith and Sean Dickson brought on the add a bit of spark.
Dickson got on the end of a corner in the dying moments to hand East Fife nothing more than a consolation goal.
However, any remote hopes of a comeback were firmly dashed when Gold headed home with the last touch of the game.
