Livingston 4 Alloa 0: Livi lift Petrofac Training Cup with four-goal blast
ByThe Courier Reporter
Livingston put their Scottish Championship woes to one side as they beat fellow strugglers Alloa to lift the Petrofac Training Cup for the first time.
The team who sit rock-bottom of the second tier six points adrift of ninth-placed Alloa gave their supporters reason to cheer on a memorable afternoon for the club at McDiarmid Park, Perth.
Livingston, who lost the 2000-01 final on penalties against Airdrie, hit the front after 20 minutes when Myles Hippolyte robbed Michael Doyle and fed Scott Pitman to fire home from 12 yards.
Callum Fordyce’s close-range finish on the hour mark settled Livi’s nerves before substitute Jordan White sparked celebrations.
White finished Gary Glen’s cut-back after 85 minutes and headed Jason Talbot’s cross beyond Craig McDowall two minutes into stoppage time.
