Raith Rovers boss Grant Murray is convinced his players can put the disappointment of back-to-back defeats behind them when they host Queen of the South on Saturday.
The Kirkcaldy club had only lost once all season in the league heading into the away games against Dundee and Alloa but Rovers must now pick themselves back up after going down to 2-0 and 1-0 losses respectively.
The Raith boss, who picked up his second straight manager of the month award recently, is concentrating on returning to winning ways when Rovers are back at Stark’s Park at the weekend.
“We’re obviously disappointed from Saturday but the players have got to move on and they’ve got to understand how to accept defeat,” he said.
“It is something we’ve not had to deal with this season but that’s credit to the players.
“There comes a time where you have got to face up to what we’ve had, back-to-back defeats, so it’s a learning process as well.
“It’s a wee test for us this weekend, being back at home, and what’s happened lets us know that you’ve got to be on the ball.
“We weren’t over confident at Alloa but it’s probably the first time that we’ve played below par for quite a chunk of the game, which resulted in us losing.
“But that’s why I don’t get drawn into this looking too far ahead.
“People keep asking the question: ‘Do you think you’ll be here, do you think you’ll be there?’ but that could come back to haunt you.”
Murray admits to being puzzled as to the reasons behind last week’s performance at Recreation Park.
“The consistency level we’ve had has been great and we’ve gone 12 or 13 games where things have been good,” he added.
“I think we probably had the majority of the team not performing to the capabilities that they have done in the previous games.
“I’m honest enough, they are honest enough, and that maybe was a factor.”
Rovers will be relatively injury-free for Queen of the South’s visit, with just long-term casualty David McGurn out.
Defender Callum Booth will be available following suspension.
