Cowdenbeath boosted by win

Cowdenbeath head west to Ayr United tonight with a happy camp after Saturday’s 3-2 win at Stenhousemuir which brought them their first success since they defeated the Honest Men just after Christmas.

Manager Colin Nish said: “It was great to get winning again and the manner we did it in was pleasing. After being two goals up and being pulled back to 2-2 there was a concern that we could fold however the players stayed strong and grabbed a winner.

“It was our first success in a couple of months but I felt it had been coming. We ran Peterhead close a week past Saturday and were leading Forfar last midweek until we had a man sent off.

“We can go to Ayr with a bit of confidence which is good as it is really important to start the game well. The last time we were at their place we lost goals early and the game ran away from us a bit.”

Nish added: “We tried something different formation wise at the weekend and it worked well however we may need to change things around at Ayr. We are moving from a synthetic surface to a grass one and one that will probably be a bit heavy so I may need to alter our approach.”

Ross Caldwell could start after scoring as a substitute at the weekend and Kieran Gibbons is available after a ban. Greig Spence is a doubt after picking up a knee injury at Ochilview, however Nish may take a chance on him. Kenny Adamson and Kyle Miller both remain out injured.
