For Kevin Cuthbert, the season is finishing too prematurely.
Having worked his way back from injury to regain his first-team place, the Raith Rovers goalkeeper would prefer to be anticipating more than the three fixtures that remain.
And, whilst he is eager to make the most of what is left, the 32-year-old has urged the rest of the Stark’s Park squad to prove against champions Hearts this afternoon that they have not yet fallen into holiday mode.
He said: “It’s a good test for us against Hearts. As a team, we need to prove we’ve not chucked it.
“Let’s be honest, the last couple of results have been really poor, but we’ve got three games to go and we need to prove to everybody that we want to go and win those three games.
“We can only win against Hearts first and the boys are ready for it.
“Results have been disappointing over the last three games but the boys are putting in an effort.
“There’s been no flip-flops and shorts or anything like that. The boys are ready to work really hard to try and get a result.”
Manager Grant Murray, meanwhile, has urged his team to revel in their chance to upset champions Hearts on their own ground.
He said: “For a football player, there’s no better game to go into than one against the champions. It’s a great stage to go and test yourself on especially when we’ve lost the last few games, which is disappointing, because we want to finish the season very positively.”
