Montrose manager Paul Hegarty isn’t content with mere League Two survival.
After the Gayfield club’s play-off nerver-shredder of 12 months ago, the first aim of this campaign was to make sure they didn’t finish bottom.
That has now been achieved.
But Hegarty pointed out that safety wasn’t the limit of his ambitions.
And it won’t be next season either.
He said: “ Eighth or ninth isn’t success in my book.
“In October we were second. I’m not saying that we would have made the play-offs but three serious injuries were a big blow.
“We still want to finish the seaosn well with three wins, and we want to move up the table, but it is disappointing that we haven’t got higher.”
Hegarty, who has Chris Templeman available again for the visit of Stirling Albion, added: “We’ve got two home games left and a local derby so we’ve still got an incentive to keep going until the end.”
