Raith Rovers skipper Jason Thomson faces a race against time to be fit for Saturday’s crunch league game against Falkirk at Stark’s Park.
The 28-year-old defender suffered a back injury playing against Livingston on Saturday and had to be replaced by Craig Wighton in the 42nd minute.
Rovers boss Ray McKinnon fears his captain could now miss out this weekend against the Bairns as the Kirkcaldy outfit look to get back to winning ways and close the gap on Peter Houston’s side after what was a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Almondvale.
The manager said: “Jason is still very sore and is a big doubt for the game against Falkirk.
“He just landed awkwardly after challenging for a high ball and was feeling groggy after it.
“So we had to take him off and although he is in good spirits, he is still in a lot of pain.
“Fingers crossed though that he will recover in time.
“Everyone else is fine after the Livi game apart from some aches and pains.
“We are still disappointed with the result but I have looked back at the video of the game and Livingston barely had three chances in the match.
“For instance, their first goal came after a definite foul on our keeper Kevin Cuthbert.
“We also had some great early chances and should have been in the lead at half-time.
“Once they scored, they were very defensive but we will just have to take the result on the chin and move on to what is a big game against Falkirk.”
