There was nothing unlucky for Rangers as they made it 13 league wins out of 13 against Arbroath.
The Glasgow club continued their romp to the League One title with a comfortable victory which was sparked off by a Jon Daly volley in just two minutes.
A Bradley Donaldson own goal and a Nicky Clark header completed the scoring both in the first half.
Gayfield boss Paul Sheerin was frustrated by the slack start his team made.
He said: “We set up with a system to stay in the game as long as possible so it was a blow to lose one so early, especially from a set-piece.”
“We let ourselves down in the first half, to be honest. There was an improvement in the second half,” added Sheerin.
“The game petered out a bit but we didn’t concede in the second half so it could have been worse.”
Ally McCoist was as satisfied with the first 45 as Sheerin was annoyed.
He said: “I was really thrilled with the start. For 45 minutes we were excellent.
“I didn’t think we were clinical enough in the first half, funnily enough, and we certainly weren’t clinical enough in the second half.
“But you’ve got to be delighted because we played some great football.”
Steven Milne came on as a second-half substitute to call time on his football career, and will now join up with Police Scotland.
Sheerin said: “Savo is a big character in the dressing room and we wish him well.”
