With Brechin’s promotion play-off place now secured, Glebe gaffer Ray McKinnon has admitted there will be changes to his team for this weekend’s final league game at home to Stranraer.
City travelled to Stenhousemuir on Saturday knowing that a point would cement their place in fourth spot and after an early scare when they conceded two early goals, they stormed back with counters from Andy Jackson and Alan Trouten to attain the draw required.
Now, McKinnon has a chance to rest some of his first-team who have been playing through the pain barrier in recent weeks and to give game time to others.
However, he insists that with Stranraer still in a three-horse race with Forfar and Morton for the title, the changes will in no way weaken his side.
The manager said: “To be honest, I saw it coming on Saturday as there was a slackness about our play and we found ourselves two goals down early on.
“Thankfully, we got back in it and really should have been 3-2 up with Jamie Masson having an excellent chance.
“The game then petered out after they had a man sent off and we secured the point we needed which was the most important thing.
“We are now in the play-offs and I need to take care of my own team first and foremost.
“We have had lads carrying injuries so there will be enforced changes for Saturday but we will still be competitive.
“We want to finish the regular season with as many points as possible and to keep our good run and momentum going into the play-offs next Wednesday.
“There are also lads like Callum Tapping who are needing a good 90 minutes under their belt but they will definitely not weaken the team in any way.
“I just need to make sure everyone is 100% for the play-offs.”
