Dunfermline’s Josh Falkingham looking for morale-boosting win

Josh Falkingham insists the Dunfermline players are determined to return to winning ways to give stricken team-mates Ryan Williamson and skipper Callum Fordyce a welcome boost to their morale.

The club captain suffered a horrific injury last week, dislocating his ankle as well as suffering a broken leg against Ayr.

He has been operated on and has now joined Williamson who also broke his leg against Forfar last month on the long road back to full fitness.

The injury to Fordyce overshadowed last week’s game which ended in defeat for the Pars and Falkingham is determined to put a smile back on the skipper’s face with a victory at Stenhousemuir.

The midfielder said: “Forget results and things like that, Callum’s injury is one you never want to see.

“Unfortunately, we have seen a couple in the last few weeks.

“Hopefully, Callum will come back fit and strong. I’m sure he will.

“Look, I’m not one to be sitting here complaining. The footage says it all really, I don’t really need to say anything or make a big deal out of it.

“I just think you have to look after yourself and if you do see it coming, get out of the way as much as you can.

“It has been a tough few days for Callum and the boys, hearing what had happened.

“But I’m sure if we are flying and taking all three points on Saturday, that will put a smile on his face.

“We will look to get back to winning ways for him and Ryan against Stenny.”

Dunfermline have been praised for their attractive football this season.

However, Falkingham believes some sides are now going out determined to stop them expressing themselves fully.

He said: “We do like to play football and sometimes the way to stop that is to be physical.

“It is all part and parcel of the game for me.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t deal with it on Saturday although I thought we created enough chances to probably get something out of the game, if not the three points and a win.

“It is a learning one for us and we have to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

“We will dust ourselves down and go into this Saturday all guns blazing.

“We need to get back to winning ways.”
