Forfar have a skip in their step ahead of facing Albion Rovers after securing their first league win since September, with manager Gary Bollan now plotting a move away from the relegation play-off spot.
A 4-1 win at Cowdenbeath on Tuesday has seen the Loons pull to within three points of the eighth-placed Central Park side.
Bollan said: “We took a lot of positives from that game and now we have the positive of only being one win behind Cowdenbeath in the table.
“They are in our sights now, and defeating Albion Rovers could see us go level with them should they falter at Stenhousemuir.
“I felt that we deserved our win, and even when it was 11 versus 11 we were in control of the game. We had gone behind to a penalty but worked hard to get level via a penalty of our own which saw Cowdenbeath get a man sent off.
“That gave us a bit more encouragement and we went on to play well.”
Bollan added: “It built on what I saw as a decent performance down at Ayr last Saturday. We had lost a goal but equalised with a really well taken effort from Andy Ryan.
“It took a bit of a super goal from a player who was playing in the Premiership recently to beat us.”
Former Hamilton Accies striker Ryan has been a star for Bollan’s side recently.
But the Station Park boss is keen to point to others as well. He said: “Andy is in a good run of form just now with four goals in four games.
“He is benefiting from having Steven Craig beside him and everyone benefited from Martyn Fotheringham putting in a terrific performance as a substitute.
“He has done his chances of a start against Albion Rovers no harm at all.”
As for the game with the Coatbridge men, Bollan said: “They are a very well disciplined side who deserve great credit for what they have done this season. To be in a play-off place at this stage after just being promoted is good going.
“However, we are at home and, having gone so long to get a win it would be nice to reward the fans with three points at Station Park.”
Michael Travis is out with a knee injury and Michael Dunlop will be absent if he fails a fitness test, with Iain Campbell struggling with a knock.
Rovers have an injury doubt over former Par Paul Willis.
