Brechin came from behind to earn a draw at home to Dunfermline, leaving Pars boss Jim Jefferies shaking his head at two points dropped.
Brechin had the first chance of the game in seven minutes when Andy Jackson ran clear and shot inches wide of the far post.
Home keeper Graeme Smith made a fine save from a Stephen Husband free-kick in 18 minutes then, six minutes later, a Robert Thomson header hit the Brechin post.
In 27 minutes Thomson was played in by Husband and his shot from a tight angle was cleared off the line by Gerry McLauchlan.
Dunfermline took the lead in 38 minutes when Thomson ran clear, with Brechin looking for offside, and shot into the corner.
Five minutes into the second half Graham Hay saved Brechin from going further behind when he headed a Ryan Wallace chip off the line.
The home side dug in and equalised in 76 minutes. A Bobby Barr corner wasn’t cleared and, as the ball bobbed around, Jackson scored from close range.
Two minutes later a Hay header hit the bar, and a follow-up header from Jackson was beaten away by keeper Ryan Scully.
Jefferies said: “That was two points dropped. We were so far in front, but we needed a second goal to kill them off.
“Even the best teams in the world cannot dominate for the whole 90 minutes. They had a little spell and scored during it. It was a sloppy goal, a bread-and-butter corner which bobbed about and we had plenty of chances to clear.
“We had some great build-up play, but lacked a clinical touch in the final third.
“We will need to learn from this as we could have been very comfortable.
“They got a lift from their goal and looked more likely to score a winner than we did.
“We should have had a penalty early on when Josh Falkingham was fouled. His feet were whipped away and I can’t understand why a penalty wasn’t given.
“It was certainly two points dropped by us and I am sure Brechin will admit they were outplayed.”
Brechin boss Ray McKinnon said: “It was a good point in the end and a deserved one. I am disappointed with the goal we lost. The ball was flicked on and the referee decided it wasn’t offside.
“We fought back and I am delighted with the way we pushed at the end against a full-time team.
“Dunfermline will be in the mix for promotion. But we competed against them, and when we get our injured boys on the park we will have a good side.
“I can take a lot of positives from the game and we might have nicked it at the end.
“”We are in a league where a lot of teams have made good signings and every match will be tough.”
