Arbroath entertain East Stirling tonight, with Gayfield manager Todd Lumsden looking for his men to learn quickly from Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by Queen’s Park.
Lumsden explained: “We made one mistake at the back early on when we failed to defend a ball put down a channel and we paid a heavy price. Games are so tight in this league that if you give away the lead it can be difficult to get back into things.”
The Red Lichties manager is also looking for improvement up front.
He said: “We need our strikers to gamble when they are looking to get on the end of a cross. We brought Jordan Lowdon on during the first half in a bid to get more width into our play and it worked.
“We were on top for the rest of the game however too many of the crosses that were played in were cleared without the Queen’s Park defenders being put under any pressure. We need the frontmen to take chances and go into areas where defenders are uncomfortable.
“We are looking to bounce back and get winning again after a disappointing run in the last three games. We know that winning this game can move us up a couple of places and that is a nice bonus but the most important thing is to get that winning feeling again.”
Craig Johnstone and Craig Watson miss out through injury and Jamie Henry is banned after being sent off at the weekend.
