Arbroath boss Dick Campbell looking to increase gap over bottom side

New Arbroath boss Dick Campbell is looking for his side to build on last week’s victory over East Stirling when they face Queen’s Park at Hampden this afternoon.

The Red Lichties increased the gap between themselves and bottom of the table Shire to eight points thanks to their 3-0 win at Gayfield.

Campbell admits the Arbroath squad took a big boost from that result which translated itself into two “magnificent” training sessions this week and he is hoping the feel-good factor will continue when they travel to the National Stadium.

The manager said: “I named my team on Thursday night and there will be one or two wee changes.

“Ricky Little is back from suspension and he will be in the side which is a bonus.

“As ever, I am focusing on what my team can do rather than the opposition but my brother and I watched Queen’s Park in midweek and even although they lost to Annan, they look like they could pose a threat if we allow them to.

“It is still too early to state whether Arbroath are a better team than their league position would suggest but what I would say is we have had two magnificent training sessions this week.

“We also had a great result last week against East Stirling which gave us some breathing space from the side at the bottom of the table.

“The players really seem to be responding to what we are doing and hopefully they can put that into practice on a good big pitch at Hampden.”
