Pars boss Jim Jefferies was delighted with the performance which saw his side through to the fourth round of the William Hill Scottish cup, with a 5-3 victory over Elgin City at Borough Briggs although he still gave his side a hard time after the game.
Jefferies said: “I am pleased with the performance but I have just given them a bit of a hard time in the dressing room because at 5-1 we let Elgin back in the game when we should have dealt with it instead of trying to be clever.
“I am absolutely delighted with the way that they played today but I think that one or two got a bit too clever and hopefully they will learn their lesson because that could cost you sometimes.
“It was fortunate for us that we had enough goals in the bag to get through to the next round because that is the most important thing.”
Defender Jamie Duff headed League Two side Elgin in front on the 15th minute from a Craig Gunn free-kick. The lead was quickly overturned, with Dunfermline striker Ryan Wallace netting a double.
Firstly he latched on the end of a cross from Ross Millen on the 19th minute and then getting on the end of a pass from Josh Falkingham to slot the ball past the keeper after 27 minutes.
Sub Jordan Moore netted from the penalty spot on the hour mark after he had been taken down in the box by Elgin skipper David Niven.
Moore added a fourth as he pounced on a loose ball inside the box and netted past keeper Raymond Jellema. Alex Whittle’s wellplaced strike into the top left-hand corner made it five.
There was a nervy last 10 minutes as Dennis Wyness and Dachi Khutsishvilli netted for Elgin but the Pars held on.
