Brechin looking to make it a four game winning run

Brechin looking to make it a four game winning run

Brechin City’s resurgence has turned a two club battle to avoid the drop into a three club one.

And if they keep this winning run going, there could yet be more sides in League One starting to look over their shoulders.

Darren Dods’ men are looking to make it four victories on the bounce against Albion Rovers today, a result that could take them above both Forfar and Cowdenbeath and three points behind Stenhousemuir.

It would be an incredible turnaround for a side that just a few weeks ago looked doomed to go down.

“Two weeks ago we were seven points adrift,” Dods said.

“This is the first time we’ve won three games in a row and you can see the difference it has made.

“From beating Forfar the boys have taken confidence and gone on a good run.

“Even when it was 0-0 last week (against Airdrie) there was a belief that we would get a chance and take it. Andy Jackson will feel the benefit of his goal.”

Dods isn’t quite ready to revise his target going into the last match of the season at Station Park.

“The aim was to get with two points of Forfar so that the last game would mean something,” he said.

“It’s still got to be the target to have something to play for. Any better than that would be a bonus.

“The good thing is we’ve managed to drag Cowdenbeath into the mix. That’s an achievement in itself. The more teams involved the better.”
