Forfar v Ayr: Loons are ‘raring to go’against the Honest Men
ByThe Courier Reporter
Forfar’s Scottish Cup heroics contributed to a below-their-best performance in their second Angus derby of the week last Saturday, assistant boss Ian Campbell admitted.
But the players are refreshed and “raring to go” again against Ayr United.
The Loons were taken all the way to penalties by Brechin in the midweek cup replay before emerging victorious.
Then they had to get themslves back up again to face Arbroath which was a match from which they didn’t deserve anything more than their point according to Campbell.
He is now hoping though that they will benefit from seven days off between games.
Campbell said: “A draw against Arbroath was more than fair. We didn’t play our best and the cup game maybe took its toll.
“But apart from Gavin Swankie and Odmar Faeroe who are two big players for us everybody else is available, and raring to go again.”
He added: “Ayr United are a good side and beat us down there earlier in the season. But we know if we play to our best we can get the three points.”
