Veteran goalkeeper Rab Douglas has annouced that he had quit Forfar.
The 43-year-old former Dundee, Celtic and Scotland stopper’s decision comes just days after Gary Bollan was brought in to replace long-serving manager Dick Campbell, who was axed by the Station Park board after 7 years in charge of the League One side.
Douglas, who was also goalkeeping coach at the club, joined the Loons 2 years ago and had made 20 appearances this season but is believed to have become discontented over Campbell’s sacking and the appointment of Bollan ahead of coach Stewart Petrie.
Bollan, who will take his first training session with his new side tonight, has been informed that Douglas will not be there.
He is expected to make a move to bring in Dougie Hill, who was recently released by Hamilton and played for East Fife as a trialist at the weekend.
The new manager will try to arrest a slump in form that has seen Forfar slide to third bottom in League One, just four points ahead of basement club Stranraer.
Forfar host high-flying leaders Dunfermline on Boxing Day before a January 2 date at Glebe Park with Angus neighbours Brechin City, the team just one place and three points behind them in the table.
