Montrose boss George Shields was left devastated after his side conceded a goal deep into stoppage-time to lose a seven-goal thriller against Albion Rovers.
Montrose pressed from the start and took the lead on six minutes. Stephen O’Neill broke on the right and scored via the post.
On 15 minutes, O’Neill headed the ball into the box, and Montrose debutant David Banjo scored with a shot on the turn.
Albion grabbed a goal back four minutes later. They hit on the break following a Montrose corner and Mark McGuigan shot high into the net.
Montrose lost possession on 31 minutes, and McGuigan headed a Gary Fisher cross in off the bar.
Albion took the lead for the first time on 52 minutes when Ross Davidson volleyed a Josh Mullen cross home off the post.
In 59 minutes Ross McCord knocked the ball forward and Banjo had a neat finish on the turn.
Montrose looked the more likely, and Garry Wood went close three times. Then in the final minute of normal time, his drive was pushed wide at full stretch by Neil Parry. From the resulting corner, a Scott Johnston shot was cleared off the line.
Three minutes into added time Thomas McCluskey ran clear on the left with Montrose looking for offside, and his shot beat Stuart McKenzie and trickled over the line.
George Shields said: “I am disappointed to lose a goal in the 93rd minute.
“We had a good start and scored a couple of good goals, but we gave away soft goals, which has been the story of our season. We should never lose a goal from our own corner.
“When we got back to 3-3 we had chances to win it, including Scott Johnston having one cleared off the line.
“There are fine lines between success and failure in this league. We have to be more mentally strong. If you score three goals at home, you should not be losing.”
