St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes may be without one of his side’s stalwarts for Saturday’s match against St Mirren.
Dave Mackay had not missed a match for Saints all season until a calf injury forced him to sit out last Sunday’s 3-1 win at Pittodrie.
The defender underwent a fitness test prior to the match but it was decided not to risk him against the Dons and there are question marks over his involvement this weekend.
“Dave Mackay has had a scan on his calf,” said McInnes.
“We are not too concerned about it but he may be a doubt for Saturday.
“We will have to wait and see how the injury settles down.
“He has been an ever-present this season so it was disappointing not to have him available at Aberdeen but we felt it was not worth taking a risk and having him miss out for a lot longer.
“Thankfully, we did not pick up any fresh injuries from the game.
“We always believed we could go up there and win. I felt we did not have a lot of great performances but there were not a lot of bad ones either.”Safe zoneThat victory in Aberdeen finally made it mathematically impossible for Saints to be relegated this season.
They narrowly missed out on a top six finish but although the pressure to ensure their SPL survival is off, McInnes does not believe his players can now look forward to “enjoying” the remaining matches.
“I am not a great believer that you can actually get pleasure from a game unless you are winning three or four nil with 10 minutes to go and are popping the ball about,” he added.
“It is all about the result as no one likes matching someone on a 40-yard run or getting a belt in the jaw from a challenge.
“Football is a job and we are now playing against teams who are fighting for their lives and that in itself brings an intensity to the games.”
