East Fife manager Gary Naysmith thinks that his former Scotland team-mate Barry Ferguson will include himself against the Bayview men if he passes a fitness test after a knee injury.
Naysmith said: “I obviously know Barry well and I know the lift Clyde will have taken when he played against Annan a fortnight ago.
“He rested himself against Turriff last week in the Scottish Cup but, if he is ready, I am sure he will play against us.
“They will be keen to get moving up the way in the table and will see winning against us as a way to do that when other teams are not playing.”
Despite his side’s 7-0 success over Threave Rovers last weekend in the William Hill Scottish Cup, Naysmith is planning changes to his team.
He explained: “We have the on-loan players Liam Smith and Jonathan Page available for this game after Hearts and Dunfermline did not allow them to play so that gives me options.
“A part of the Threave game disappointed me, as we lost our way after going a goal ahead.
“We actually got a bit sloppy in our play before the second goal came and settled us down so I was not entirely happy despite leading 4-0 at the break.”
Skipper Stevie Campbell is expected to shake off a knock but Naysmith and Scott Smith are both rated as extremely doubtful, with Alan Cook again ruled out due to an ankle injury.
Naysmith said: “It is good to have options to change things around as a win over Clyde could lift us into second place.
“That is a very good incentive to have especially after the poor start we made.”
Bully Wee boss Ferguson has named himself in a full-strength travelling party.
He noted: “I should be fit enough to be involved for what will be a tough game.
“East Fife have good players and are quite rightly one of the favourites for promotion so we know that we have to play well.”
