Raith in timely loan swoop for Hearts star Carrick

Raith Rovers last night signed Hearts forward Dale Carrick – just in time to face Edinburgh rivals Hibs.

Carrick has joined Rovers on an initial one month emergency loan and goes straight into the squad.

The 21-year-old has made 45 appearances for the Championship leaders and has represented Scotland at both Under 16 and Under 21 level.

It could well prove to be a shrewd move by Hearts if Carrick can impress in his spell at Stark’s Park, as Raith have to face Hibs, Rangers and Falkirk – the Jambos’ main promotion rivals – in the next few weeks.

The striker has been added to the squad amid concerns about the extent of Rovers forward Calum Elliot’s injury, although it remains too early to say how long Elliot will be missing for.
