Queen’s Park urge Dundee United and St Johnstone target Andrew Robertson to stick around

Queen’s Park have not given up hope of holding on to teenage defender Andrew Robertson, despite interest from Dundee United and St Johnstone.
The two Tayside clubs and fellow SPL side Partick Thistle are understood to be in the hunt for the left-back.
Robertson enjoyed an excellent season in the Third Division with the Spiders and head coach Gardner Speirs believes another term of first-team football will benefit the 19-year-old more than playing under-20 games for an SPL side.
Speirs said: “Andrew has been made offers to move elsewhere for next season and of course securing full-time football is very attractive for any young player. What we have asked him to do is to consider staying here for another season and get another 30 to 40 first-team games under his belt.
“That would see him ready for a starting place elsewhere and is exactly the route Barry Douglas took a few years ago.
“He went straight from here into the Dundee United first team and Andrew would do the same with the experience he would gain here.”
Should United snap up Robertson, he will join Aidan Connolly at Tannadice after he agreed to sign for Jackie McNamara last week.
