Brechin boss Ray McKinnon insisting players remain fully focused against rock bottom side

Gerry McLauchlan will miss game with calf injury.

Brechin boss Ray McKinnon will be drilling into his players that they must approach this afternoon’s game against rock bottom Stirling Albion in a similar manner to last week’s fixture at high-flying Morton.

The Angus side travelled to Greenock and produced one of the results of the day, winning 2-0 thanks to a perfectly-executed game plan.

However, McKinnon is determined there will be absolutely no complacency from his players against the Binos, who need a minor miracle to escape relegation, as City continue to chase their promotion play-off dream.

He said: “It was a great result for us last week.

“The win was thoroughly deserved and the lads played really well. We knew they would come at us but we pressed them well and were dangerous on the counter-attack.

“To be honest, they rarely troubled us but we now have a different type of challenge this week.

“Stirling have nothing to lose and they can be a difficult side to play against.

“So I will be stressing to the players that this is a huge game and they must be as focused as they were going to Morton last week.

“We will certainly not be taking anything for granted and we have to maintain the same high level of performance right through to the end of the season.

“We are definitely in with a chance of a play-off place and the lads deserve enormous credit.

“They have only lost twice in 22 games which is an incredible stat.

“So we will go out and try to pick up another three points and then see where we are on Saturday night.

“Alan Trouten is still out but could return next week after recovering from his rib injury.

“However, Gerry McLauchlan, who has been immense for us, is facing two to three weeks out with a pulled calf while Craig Storie injured his knee while away with the Scotland Under-19s and could be out for the season which is a massive blow.”
