A late goal gave Cowden a vital point at Central Park in their battle to avoid the First Division relegation play-offs.
Livi looked like they had got all three points with a thunderous Craig Barr shot which gave home goalkeeper Thomas Flynn no chance midway through the second half but the Blue Brazil were worth a point overall.
The visitors went ahead in five minutes. They won a corner on the left and four players went for Liam Fox’s set piece on the edge of the home six yard box and Paul Watson just got to the ball first to divert it wide of Flynn.
Shortly after the Blue Brazil had to make a change at left-back when the injured Scott Linton was replaced by Kyle Miller.
But on 20 minutes the home team had their best chance so far when Marc McKenzie sent over a low cross from the right and Greg Stewart’s effort was blocked by Jesus Garcia-Tena only seven yards out.
Eleven minutes from the break the home side levelled the game.
Flynn’s long kick out was made a mess of by the Livi central defence and Greg Stewart ran clean through and after his first shot was blocked by Andy McNeill he followed up to shoot into the empty net.
But seconds later Cowden were thanking Flynn when he pulled off a point-blank save from Fox. On 65 minutes McNeill made a brilliant save from his own defender Garcia-Tena, who deflected Craig Moore’s shot towards his own net.
With the game very dour, Livi struck with a wonder strike with 20 minutes to go. Craig Barr ran from defence and 35 yards out he unleashed a shot which flew high into the net.
It gave Livi confidence and for a spell they started to play some good football but Cowden always threatened to pose problems for the visitors and with 60 seconds of normal time left McKenzie fired low into the net, after good work by Stewart, to earn a deserved point.
