Danny Wilson insists he did not have to think twice about committing his future to Hearts after signing a three-year contract at Tynecastle.
Wilson has made his stay in Edinburgh more permanent after spending four months on loan with the Clydesdale Bank Premier League club from Liverpool.
The 21-year-old could not make a sustained first-team breakthrough at Anfield following his £2 million move from Rangers in 2010.
He is keen to continue playing regularly after his career stalled following a prodigious start at Ibrox.
But his decision to stay at Hearts is a major show of faith in the club, who could face a 15-point deduction next season if majority shareholder UBIG is the subject of court action in Lithuania to confirm its insolvency after indicating it was unable to meet its liabilities earlier this month.
Hearts have not been subsidised by UBIG for more than a year, but director Sergejus Fedotovas last week warned of a £2.5m funding shortfall for next season.
However, Wilson had no issue with signing a three-year deal with the Edinburgh club.
“I never had any issue with that,” he told Hearts TV. “If it’s not broke, why fix it?
“I have really enjoyed my time here. The last few months have been great, although obviously it was frustrating to get injured near the end of the season.
“To get the chance to play my football again here next season was one I was desperate to take.”
Wilson was the subject of interest from other Scottish clubs but was quick to show his loyalty to Hearts.
The left-sided defender, who won the last of his five Scotland caps in 2011, said: “I have been enjoying my football and I feel the fans have taken to me. I get on well with all the boys in the changing room.
“I was in no rush to leave and I’m just delighted something could be done to keep me here.”
The Livingston-born player is now looking to help Hearts improve on their 10th-placed finish in the SPL.
