Cup specialist Kevin McBride is hoping some of his experience can rub off and help take Dundee all the way to Hampden.
The Dark Blues travel to Livingston on Saturday for their fourth round Scottish Cup tie in the unaccustomed position this season of being favourites to win the match.
McBride though is taking nothing for granted against a First Division side he has inside knowledge of.
However, despite acknowledging the toughness of the task against Livingston, the midfielder is determined to help Dundee embark on a run to the final.
He said: ”It is a different type of pressure in a cup match. They are a league below us but they are a good team and a fine football side. They are dangerous in attack and are a very good passing team.
”Obviously, they have lost their manager recently but it is a difficult place to go to.
”We went there last year and got beaten 3-2 but there will be a different type of pressure now because it is a cup game.
”We went out in the League Cup against Queen’s Park earlier this season so it would be good to go on a run in the Scottish Cup.
”I think the club deserves one and hopefully, we can start to do that on Saturday.
”Most games we have played so far this season we have been underdogs but we will probably be favourites in this one.
”To be honest, we won’t be thinking about that as we know how hard the game will be.
”I was in training with them for a couple of weeks last season and I know some of their boys, like Kevin McCann, who I was with at Hibs.
”They are a good bunch of boys and we will go there and give them all the respect they deserve.
”I have been in two cup finals, the CIS with Motherwell and the Scottish with Falkirk. They were both against Rangers and were both defeats but I have had a good run in the cups and hopefully I can continue that here.”
Livingston and Dundee have agreed to reduce ticket prices for Saturday’s cup meeting.
Adults will gain entry for £15 and concessions will cost £5.
