Staff at Brechin City worked around the clock in a bid to make Glebe Park playable for tonight’s promotion showdown with Ayr United but the match has been postponed after a pitch inspection at 2.30pm.
A mammoth effort from groundsman Neil Wood meant that Saturday’s victory over Peterhead did not fall victim to the heavy rain, but more torrential downpours over the weekend presented a fresh set of challenges.
Weir had been hoping to avoid a repeat of Saturday’s first-half performance against Peterhead, which saw his side go into the break 1-0 down only to recover to win 3-1.
Weir said, “The first-half performance was nowhere near good enough but Craig Nelson deserves a big pat on the back. Our mistakes could really have cost us but he was fantastic.”
