Jon Daly believes United’s young Hampden heroes would benefit from staying put a little longer.
The likelihood is that clubs will come calling on Tannadice in the close season looking to recruit some of their top talent.
However, Daly urged them to consider sticking around.
“We have a good young squad, a great manager and fine coaching staff,” said the Irishman, who conducted his post-match interviews wearing tangerine sunglasses.
“Obviously everyone wants to go on to play at the highest level they can but I don’t think United is a bad club to be at just now.
“I would like to see the boys stay another year or two then move on, but it is up to the chairman what happens.”
Daly had a memorable personal tribute paid to him with thousands of fans buying “Put your hands up for Jon Daly” T-shirts and doing exactly as instructed during the game.
“It was brilliant to see,” he said. “It was fantastic to see them to do that for me.
“It means a lot to me and I can’t thank them enough.
“They had the T-shirts made up and even presented my dad with one.
“You have some dark days when you are injured and you look forward and dream of days like this.”
