Morgaro Gomis has confessed he has aspirations to move on from Dundee United.
Gomis has 12 months left on his United deal and, with a host of clubs eyeing him, the Senegalese midfielder side-stepped questions over whether he’d be up for extending his stay at Tannadice.
If the money is right the Tangerines will look to sell one or two players this summer to reduce their debt and address the shortfall in revenue they face as a consequence of the collapse on the Setanta TV deal and Gomis hinted that he wouldn’t be averse to a move.
“This has been a really good year for us,” said Gomis. “But I do want to play at a higher level.
“And while I am not in a hurry to leave Dundee United, like everyone I have got ambitions.
“I don’t know what my future will hold.
“Have they started (re-signing) talks with me? I can’t really speak about that. We’ll just see what happens.”
Gomis admitted he can hardly comprehend the way his career has taken off after being snapped up from Cowdenbeath.
“I could never have believed that coming to Scotland would lead to a day like this.
“When I signed for Cowdenbeath, I got a one-year contract and my only thought at the time was to do my best and take it from there.
“I was surprised after six months that Dundee United had an interest in me.
“I owe Craig Levein a lot. It’s because of him that I am here with a Scottish Cup winner’s medal.
“I didn’t see him personally at Hampden, but I saw his picture come up on the television screen and heard all the fans cheering him.
“It’s only right he is remembered because he was the one who brought so many of the players here.
“It is thanks to him and Peter Houston that we have achieved this.”
