St Johnstone chairman Geoff Brown has warned that the club are set to announce a dire set of financial results.
Accounts for the year ending May 31 are expected to make grim reading and, with further money needing to be spent on the McDiarmid Stadium and pitch this summer, Brown does not see the situation easing any time soon.
“We are looking at massive lossesthey will be up there with the figures for the year we were relegated from the SPL,” he said.
“We have had, and still face, some massive outlays.
“We are facing a bill in the region of £130,000 to sort out the pitch in the summerthe problems with which led to postponements that cost us a six-figure sum.
“Snow clearing and the acquisition of rain covers cost us £15,000 and the level of maintenance required on a stadium which is now 21 years old is rising significantly all the time.
“Of course, you expect that to be the case but it doesn’t soften the blow.
“And, don’t forget, we have been paying West Bromwich Albion all season for the wages of Marcus Haber (the on-loan striker whose season was ended by injury back in November).
“The run to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup will defray things to some extent but the picture is still poor.”
