The fund-raising derby between Dundee and Dundee United that was postponed because of the Arctic weather in December could now take place this summer.
The two city clubs have held preliminary talks and hope to sit down soon to confirm a new date for the Dens Park friendly.
The game was originally set up to raise much-needed revenue for the Dark Blues after they entered administration and to provide United with funds for their youth programme.
The clubs played a similar friendly in 2009 and it was hoped the latest match would attract a similar bumper crowd of almost 8000.
Dundee director Jim Thomson said, “With the multiple postponements during the bad winter weather, Dundee United ended up with a huge backlog of games to play and there was just no room for the derby.
“We had some preliminary discussions with United with a view to holding the match as a pre-season friendly.
“There have been no recent talks but we hope to sit down with them again shortly in the hope of firming things up.
“Tickets had already been sold when the original game was postponed in December and anyone who wanted a refund then was given one.
“But people who held on to their tickets will be able to use them when the game is finally played.”
