Barry Smith insists there’s no point to prove as Dundee FC face final game of the season

A win against Queen of the South on Saturday will ensure Dundee finish the first division campaign having won more points than any other team in the league including title winners Dunfermline.
To many Dark Blues’ fans that will make them the unofficial champions, even though their 25-point deduction for going into administration will see a mid-table final position go into the history books.
Whether they’re right or not is an argument that will go on in pubs, clubs and internet forums, but it’s not a debate Dens Park boss Barry Smith wants to enter into.
“I just want to win the next game. That’s as far as I’ll go on it. We want to finish on a high and that means winning the game.
“We’ll have the same attitude tomorrow as we’ve had over the last few months. We’re the same as every other team in the league and want to go into the summer on the back of a positive result.
“We also want to finish as high as we can in the table Queen of the South will be thinking the same way.”
Teenage striker Leighton McIntosh is likely to miss out with a hamstring injury but Smith should have the rest of his squad available.
