Eight members of Dunfermline’s first division championship-winning squad agreed new deals to stay at the club, as it gears up for life in the SPL.
Andy Kirk, Joe Cardle, Steven McDougall, Andy Dowie, Martin Hardie, Kevin Rutkiewicz, Chris Smith and Nick Phinn have accepted the offers made to them by the club, decisions which have delighted East End Park boss Jim McIntyre.
“I am thrilled that eight of the lads have signed new deals,” he said.
“They did a magnificent job in the first division and I believe they are good enough to do the same in the SPL.
“I was certain that there was no need for wholesale changes after we won promotion as I have a belief in the squad of players at this club.
“We will still need to strengthen but that is something we would do every season, regardless of the fact we will be playing in a higher league.
“I intend to bring new players in but I am confident we have the nucleus in place to do well next season.”
One Pars player who has yet to decide on a new deal is former Liverpool full-back Calum Woods, who has attracted interest from two clubs down south.
Meanwhile, McIntyre revealed that striker Graham Bayne, who has successfully battled to overcome a career-threatening foot injury, will be invited back for pre-season training with the club this summer.
