Ray Farningham has decided to release seven players as he begins his preparations for his first full season in charge of the club.
Goalkeeper Ramiro Gonzalez, as well as last season’s top goal scorer Paul Tosh, Nicky Smith, Conor Thomson, Fraser Milligan and Chris Hegarty will be leaving, while club captain Hugh Davidson had already announced he was retiring from the game and Ross McCord had returned to Dundee United after a season-long loan.
As well as the departures, Montrose also announced that Farningham has tied up Sean Crighton and Jonathan Crawford on new one-year contracts and deals have been offered to Terry Masson, Martin Boyle, Aaron Sinclair, Douglas Cameron, Daryl Nicol and Gordon Pope.
However, defender Pope is unlikely to sign a new contract as he has intimated he wants to play closer to his Ayrshire home.
Forward Sean Pierce, who signed as an amateur in March from Port Glasgow Juniors, has been offered a professional contract.
