Raith Rovers manager John McGlynn has revealed the names of his first new signings of the close season.
The Stark’s Park gaffer is currently holidaying in Spain with the rest of the club’s back-room staff but he took time out to speak of his delight at adding to his roster for next season with the acquisition of goalkeeper Andrew McNeil from Montrose and defender Willie Dyer from Brechin.
Former Hibs stopper McNeil will compete with Raith player of the year David McGurn for the goalkeeper’s jersey while Dyer provides extra cover at full-back.
“I am really pleased that all the formalities have been completed with the SFA and I can now announce that the two players will be joining us,” said McGlynn.
“It is vital that we add fresh faces to the squad to increase competition.
“McNeil had been training with us while playing for Montrose and it seemed a natural progression for him to join us.
“He knows all the boys and has bags of experience from his time at Hibs.
“It was important that we signed another keeper after Gary O’Connor decided to retire at the end of last season.
“Dyer was someone who always impressed me when we were in the second division and he has now reached an age where we do not have to pay compensation to sign him.
“He will provide another exciting option at full-back. I am also hopeful that we will be able to announce the signing of another player this time next week.”
