Gary Irvine and Matt Lockwood have both signed new one-year deals with the Dens Park club, boss Barry Smith has revealed.
Because Lockwood is at home in Essex and Irvine has left for a family holiday, neither has been able to make it to Dundee in person to put pen to paper.
They’ve told Smith their signed contracts are in the post and should arrive with today’s mail.
That leaves only Craig Forsyth of last season’s squad yet to make up his mind on whether to stay.
In the case of Irvine and Lockwood, Smith has had to be patient as they mulled over Dundee’s offer and interest from elsewhere, but he’s thrilled that they have finally given him the answer he was hoping for.
Smith, who himself jetted off for a holiday, said, “They were important players for us last year so I’m absolutely delighted that they’ve both signed.
“They couldn’t get to Dundee so we sent their contracts out to them. They haven’t arrived back but I believe they’re on their way.
“The aim this summer was to keep as many of last season’s squad as possible and I’m really pleased that we’ve achieved that.”
Attention will now turn to the new faces Smith can attract to the club. Graham Bayne has already joined and another two or three could follow, possibly this week.
