Rangers face fierce competition in their bid to lure former Dundee United winger Craig Conway to Ibrox for next season.
Conway’s agent held talks on Wednesday with new Rangers boss Ally McCoist at the club’s Murray Park training ground.
It is understood that McCoist wants to tie up Conway as well as Israeli striker Tomer Hemed and Crystal Palace midfielder Neil Danns before he heads off on holiday at the weekend.
Rangers have recently received a major cash injection from new owner Craig Whyte and can also offer Conway the attraction of Champions League football factors which have seen them installed as favourites in many quarters to snap up the player.
However, it is still unlikely they could match the wages of other clubs which are chasing the highly-rated 26-year-old.
English sides Crystal Palace, Watford, Leicester, Leeds United and big-spending Hull City have all expressed an interest in Conway.
The player’s agent is believed to have held signing talks with some, if not all of them, and the player is still mulling over his future.
Conway was out of contract at Tannadice so Dundee United will not be entitled to any fee for the player when he does make his move.
However, fans of the Tangerines will be keeping their fingers crossed that Conway ultimately decides to move down south and does not come back to haunt them next season in the light blue of Rangers.
