Dundee United boss Peter Houston has confirmed that he has been contacted by Middlesbrough counterpart Gordon Strachan regarding the purchase of players, but has yet to receive a bid.
Boro scout Gordon McQueen watched the Tangerines several times last season.
Garry Kenneth, Craig Conway and Morgaro Gomis have all been linked with a move to the English Championship club.
Houston knows the former Celtic gaffer is keen to recruit but he awaits a firm offer.
He said, “Gordon Strachan did phone me to mention the fact that he liked a couple of our players.
“I won’t mention the players.”
He added, “Gordon said he was going to be talking to his board and, if he gets the money he is looking for, one or two of our players might be on his radar.
“That was a long time ago, though, and I have not heard anything.”
Meanwhile, today is D-Day for Dusan Pernis as the United goalkeeper finds out whether he is going to the World Cup or not.
Pernis, having just sampled Scottish Cup glory with his club, is desperate to step on to the biggest stage of all with his country when the festival of football starts in South Africa.
Slovakia are in Group F along with defending champions Italy, Paraguay and New Zealand, with their opening match against the Kiwis on June 15.
Pernis was given a boost on Saturday when he came on as a late substitute in his country’s latest warm-up, a 1-1 draw with Cameroon.
He will have his fingers crossed that he makes it into Vladimir Weiss’s 23-man squad.
Pernis will be back in Austria with United as part of their pre-season preparations.
Houston revealed that his side hope to play two matches against opposition yet to be determined during the six-day training camp in Obertraun.
He said, “We are going to Austria between the 12th and 18th of July.
“We will look to play two games while we are over there but they have yet to be confirmed.”
He added, “There are one or two teams there at the same time as us, like Borussia Monchengladbach, AEK Athens as well as a side from Saudi Arabia.”
United fans looking for a lasting memento of the club’s Hampden heroics can get their picture taken with the Scottish Cup.
Tannadice will open for photographs to be taken on Monday and Tuesday from 5-8pm.
Each picture can contain up to three people alongside the famous silverware.
The price is £5 per picture to cover costs, with any money left over going to charity.
