Scotland under-21 goalkeeper Grant Adam’s loan spell at Forfar Athletic was a short one, as he has been recalled by Rangers after less than two weeks at Station Park to allow him to be registered for the Europa League.
The Ibrox club had to ask permission from the SFL’s board of management for the deal, originally agreed until January, to be cut short.
The Scottish champions’ third-choice shot-stopper Scott Gallacher, who ironically was on loan to Forfar last season, picked up an injury in training that will keep him out for months.
Adam required to be released immediately to be eligible for Europa League action against Maribor should anything happen to Alan McGregor and Neil Alexander.
An SFL spokesperson said, “The extenuating circumstances of the case as well as Forfar’s agreement were put to the board and the player was released back to his parent club.”
The Loons had youth team keeper Anton Mordente on the bench for Tuesday night’s clash with Morton in the Ramsdens Cup and manager Dick Campbell hopes to have a new man in place for Saturday’s game against Albion Rovers.
