Dunfermline’s John Potter believes justice has been done after he won his red card appeal on Friday.
Referee George Salmond dismissed Potter against St Johnstone last weekend after he tripped Fran Sandaza in the box, an offence which the official deemed had denied the Saints striker a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
Pars keeper Paul Gallacher saved the resultant penalty and Dunfermline held on to record their first SPL win of the season.
However, Potter and the Pars felt they had a claim for “unfair dismissal.”
That appeal was upheld by the SFA’s new Fast Track Tribunal, a decision which delighted the big centre-half.
He said: “I have watched the incident again and I admit it was a penalty but I did not think it was a definite goal-scoring opportunity as Jason Thomson was covering.
“However, I thought I only deserved to receive a yellow card and hopefully justice has now been done.
“I learned today that the referee had admitted himself that after looking at the incident again, it was only a yellow.
“It is great for me that he has done that and admitted he has made a wee mistake which is easy to do as the game is so fast.Mistake”I made a mistake myself with the tackle I should not have gone in that way.
“Everybody makes errors but I think it is great in general if referees can come out and hold their hands up to say they were wrong.
“I think players will have more respect for them.
“It was horrible walking off at the time but Gall made a great save and I thought the boys defended well after that I could not see them scoring.”
Potter’s boss Jim McIntyre was also delighted with the SFA’s decision as his central defender is now available to face Dundee United at Tannadice on Saturday.
McIntyre, who spent five years as a player at Dundee United said: “We always felt we had a good case as Jason was covering to make a tackle so John hadn’t denied St Johnstone a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
“The referee deserves great credit as well. He sent an email in saying that on reflection, he thought it was a yellow.
“Strangely, the penalty save really galvanised us and made us harder to beat.
“Having watched the video of the game, it was clear that we defended really well which is promising for the future.
He added: “We now face Dundee United at Tannadice and they are a team who have made great strides in the last three or four seasons.
“They are a right good side and the fact that they lost heavily last week at Celtic does not have any bearing on this game whatsoever.”
