St Johnstone and St Mirren to put on a show for Scottish football

Liam Craig has backed St Johnstone to deliver another positive advert for Scottish football when they take on St Mirren in the third round of the Scottish Communities League Cup.

The SPL rivals will face each other in the last-16 clash at McDiarmid Park on September 20 or 21, after being paired together in Monday’s draw.

Craig has predicted another exciting tussle after claiming St Johnstone proved the game in Scotland is not all doom and gloom by serving up a six-goal thriller against Dundee United at the weekend.

The midfielder said: “I know Scottish football has taken a bit of a hammering but you just have to look at the game on Saturday between ourselves and Dundee United.

“If you asked both sets of fans, I don’t think they would mind going to see that every week.”

He added: “I don’t think Scottish football is as bad as everyone is making it out to be and hopefully the cup game will be another great advert for Scottish football and we will come out on top.”
