Arbroath boss Paul Sheerin has bolstered his squad ahead of Wednesday’s transfer window deadline by snapping up defender Kevin Brown and forward Pedram Ardallany.
Former Raith Rovers player Brown was a victim of Stark’s Park cost-cutting at the end of last season and has been playing in Iceland for BI/Bolungarvik.
Ardallany started his career at Partick Thistle but has been out of the senior game for two seasons.
Despite the latest additions, Sheerin is not ruling out further signings as his squad has been assembled within the financial parameters set by the club.
He said: “I added two players to my squad on Monday night with Pedram Ardallany and Kevin Brown signing deals.
“Pedram was a youth player with Partick Thistle but has not played at senior level for a couple of years.
“He played as a trialist against Stirling on Saturday and did really well. He can play wide right but we will probably use him up front.
“He is just 22 and hungry to do well.”‘Room for manoeuvre’He added: “Kevin was with Raith Rovers last season but like a lot of players became a victim of financial circumstances and was released at the start of the summer.
“However, he has been playing in Iceland for the last four months. He is a left-sided defender and he will provide real competition for places.
“I have managed to put together this squad under budget so I do have room for manoeuvre, however I will not be rushing around mad trying to sign someone before the transfer window closes.”
Saturday’s victory over Stirling propelled the Red Lichties to the top of the second division but Sheerin insists his newly-promoted side are not getting carried away, especially as they have a testing set of fixtures to navigate after the international break.
He said: “We have been fortunate that three out of our first four games have been at home.
“But it is still good going into the international break sitting top of the league.
“So we will enjoy that for the moment and then begin preparing for a tough run of fixtures starting away to Dumbarton.”
He added: “We had five players out injured at the weekend but I should have them all back for that game, apart from Jordan Elverson, who will probably take three weeks to recover from an ankle knock.”
