St Johnstone’s search goes on after Filipe Morais opts for London move

St Johnstone are looking elsewhere for a wide player after failing to hear back from Filipe Morais.
Morais has come to the end of his one-year contract at McDiarmid Park but the club did leave the door open for him to agree a fresh deal.
However, the Portuguese-born former Hibs and Inverness player appears to have opted for a return to the London area, where he was raised.
“We made Filipe an offer but he expressed a desire to go back to England,” Saints boss Derek McInnes said.
“As far as we are aware he is looking for a club nearer London.
“I have not heard from his agent so as far as I am concerned we move on now.”
McInnes was already looking for more cover in wide positions and his search continues.
“I have managed to keep the players I wanted to keep and also extend a few contracts so I am happy with the way things have gone this summer so far,” he said.
“I am still needing a target man and a bit of pace in wide areas.”
He added, “I am going away on holiday next week so I am hoping to get something done before I go away.
“It is easy to identify players, not so easy to sign them up, so we will just have to wait and see what happens.”
