East Fife manager John Robertson admits today’s clash with Brechin City will be a meeting of two teams who could have made better starts to the season.
The Fifers sit bottom of the second division after losing the Fife derby to Cowdenbeath last weekend, while the Glebe Park men will still be smarting after their home defeat by local rivals Forfar.
“We have been disappointed with our start to the season and I think Brechin will be with theirs too,” said Robertson.
“This is a chance for us to get three points and I have told the players that. Our confidence has maybe dropped a bit but we should not be feeling sorry for ourselves.
“Apart from the Dumbarton game, I have been reasonably happy with our performances.
“Against Cowdenbeath last weekend, we hit the post and the bar, while their keeper had some great saves.
“Also, a couple of decisions went against us. I believe we are not far away but we must start picking up points.”
Meanwhile, Brechin boss Jim Weir is hoping his men can do much better than they did against Forfar.
“We haven’t hit anywhere near form at all yet,” said Weir. “We have shown signs in parts of games and that is the frustrating thing for me that I know I have a good group of players probably as good as anyone in the league.
“At this moment in time, though, we just don’t seem to be producing it on a Saturday.”
