Injury flare-up halts Dundee United defender’s comeback
ByThe Courier Reporter
A comeback for Dundee United defender Sean Dillon against Motherwell this weekend has been ruled out, after he suffered an injury setback.
The versatile Irishman was expected to be available for the visit of the Steelmen, having spent three weeks on the sidelines with a calf tear.
He was due to play in a closed-doors game against St Mirren on Tuesday after returning to full training ahead of schedule, but he pulled out of the match when the injury recurred.
Dillon could now be out for another fortnight.
Boss Peter Houston said: “Sean has suffered a setback with his injury so he definitely won’t be available for the Motherwell game.
“We had hoped he would be able to play in the bounce match we had on Tuesday but he missed out.
“It’s a shame for him because he’s worked very hard to get back and we were looking forward to having him available.
“The one good thing is we have the international break so that will give him time to work on his fitness before the next SPL fixtures.”
United’s SPL match versus Celtic on December 3 at Tannadice has been changed to Sunday the 4th with a 12.45pm kick-off due to selection for live broadcast on Sky Sports.
